Little did I know how much peace, silence and beauty of the north I would soon experience when sitting on a train to Nyland for the first time.
Never before had I heard my thoughts so clearly and been able to do my job so easily. Whether it’s writing or any creative tasks that you wanna tackle - Dario’s house is the place to go!
Morning on the wooden deck, facing beautiful, green hills or a hike in the forest that is… one minute away from the house is what I cherish most. There is nothing more soothing for the eyes than the incredibly saturated Swedish greenery. And if you think that we are talking about just a regular forest, you couldn’t be more wrong. Not only are there so many trails that I am still exploring although having spent here quite some time already, but as soon as you find yourself surrounded by those trees, you can’t help asking yourself whether someone has just thrown you into a novel and it’s just the matter of seconds that you will see elves living there.
Can you picture any better break from work?
On the other hand, Nyland is everything but boring. Having an inspiring chat with a local is easy - vast majority of them speaks English!
As a person who is normally pulled toward warm, southern countries, beaches and sea, the fact that me and my daughter turned out to be frequent visitors here, as we are madly in love with both Nyland and the house is one of those things that if you had ever told me, I would have simply laughed at such an idea!
And the house itself provides you everything you need - even a hand blender, which is often missing in many places that I stay, as a nomad traveller :) It is easy to feel cosy and comfortable here. I can’t not mention that particularly the kitchen is perfectly equipped! For a person like me, who finds so much joy in cooking and does it on a daily basis, I call it a paradise :)
If you ask me what else I love about it here, my answer is - the dining room with a huge beautiful table, which makes you want to have a real feast, every day! And a pure cosiness you will find in the living room, I promise! Enjoying your evenings in there, especially when low temperature and snowing outside, is exactly how I always imagined Hygge, or as Swedes call it - Mysigt :)
All those things definitely make for the amazing adventure you get here, but there is something more, maybe even most important - you are hosted by Dario! Dario is an amazing person, that deeply cares about the experience you are provided and for whom well maintained interactions is what matters. And that’s sth I personally value a lot about him.
I also should mention I do not own a car and I do not struggle because of that, when in Nyland. There are enough busses every day that you can take to a nearby town that has several supermarkets in its offer, yet you might not even need that, since the local supermarket, just several minutes away from the house on foot, has a surprisingly wide selection of food. Which even might be more than enough :)
Nyland is the place where my creativity thrives in the peace and silence of the house and where I charge my inner batteries. In a world that is trying to force us to live as fast as possible, to the point of severe distraction and exhaustion, this place is a real gem where you can reclaim connection with yourself, with nature and dive deep in whatever you missed doing so far.
